Adult High School Credit Diploma

Adult High School Credit Diploma Program:

The New London Board of Education has made available a New London Adult High School Diploma to residents who meet certain requirements.  Day and evening classes will be held at Three Shaw’s Cove, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

  • Registration for classes is by appointment only!  Please contact the Guidance Counselor at (860)437-2385 for more information.
  • Persons eligible for the program must be at least 17 years of age and officially withdrawn from school. (Students under the age of 18 must present a withdrawal document with a parental/guardian signature). This includes Adult High School Credit Diploma and GED students.
  • To enroll in the Adult High School Credit Diploma program, the student must reside in New London, Waterford, Montville, Groton, or Lyme-Old Lyme.
  • Groton Credit Diploma classes begin Monday, January 28 at West Side Middle School.  Registration will be conducted at West Side Middle School January 23 and 24, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Credits are conferred for the completion of classes. Credits may also be awarded for documented work, occupational, volunteer, and military experiences. The program requires satisfactory completion of the following: 

  • 4 credits in English
  • 2 credits in Vocational Education, Art, and Technology
  • 3 credits in Mathematics
  • 3 credits in Science
  • 3 credits in Social Studies (1 credit must be in U.S. History and 1 credit in Government)  
  • 6 elective credits
