Adult High School Credit Diploma Program

The New London Board of Education has made available a New London Adult High School Credit Diploma to residents who meet certain requirements.

Eligibility

  • Students must be at least 17 years of age and officially withdrawn from school.
  • Students under the age of 18 must present a withdrawal document with a parental/guardian signature.
  • Students must reside in New London, Waterford, Montville, Groton, or Lyme-Old Lyme.

How to Register

First you'll need to fill out your online application form through this website.  Then you will need to make an appointment with the Guidance Counselor, because registration for classes is by appointment only! Please contact the Guidance Counselor at (860)437-2385 for more information.

Required Credits

Credits are conferred for the completion of classes. Credits may also be awarded for documented work, occupational, volunteer, and military experiences. The program requires satisfactory completion of 25 total credits of the following:

  • 4 credits in English
  • 4 credits in Mathematics
  • 3 credits in Science
  • 3 credits in Social Studies (1 credit must be in U.S. History and .5 credit in Government)
  • 1 credit in Vocational Education, Art or Technology
  • 10 elective credits

  • Class Location: New London Adult & Continuing Education, Three Shaw’s Cove
  • Day Classes: 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
  • Evening Classes: 6:00 to 9:00 pm

English

Designed for high school credit. Course designed to cover the basics of grammar, writing, speaking, and literature.

General Science

This class is designed for high school credit and covers lecture and lab experiments that deal with the basic principles of Biology, Chemistry and Earth Science.

Topics in American Government and History

Topics cover a range of important areas from the Colonial Period in U.S. History to Contemporary Issues.

Integrated Math

This is a multi-level mathematics class covering topics ranging from basic arithmetic through algebra.

The Joy of Movies

This course charts the evolution of cinema, from silent movies to sound, black and white to color, and widescreen to 3D. Students will view an array of genres, discuss the content, write and edit comprehensive critiques.
